Your photo should create a warm and friendly first impression. It's likely to be the first thing your match will notice on your profile. So make your photo work for you!

Here are some tips for selecting your best photo:

• Choose a shot you feel will really show your matches who you are. Frontal shots work well - it gives people a sense that you're open, relaxed, honest and friendly.
• Smile! Happy people are attractive people.
• Select an action shot. Something you really love getting up to on the weekend or on holidays. It tells a story, gives you something to write about in your caption and provides a nice conversation opening.

Remember you can add up to 16 photos to your profile.

Easy! You can add up to 16 photos directly from your computer using the photo tool on your profile page. You can even resize, crop and rotate your images online if you need to.

Just have your photo saved on your computer and ready before you begin. It needs to be in jpg, jpeg, gif or bmp format, no larger than 5MB and a minimum of 300 x 300 pixels.

Go to your profile and click on the edit my photos button located underneath your main photo. Then click on the add photo button to begin.

Here you'll need to click browse to locate the photo file on your computer. Choose a shot you feel will really show your matches who you are.

Once you've selected your photo, describe the moment the picture was taken by adding a photo caption in the space provided. If you are concerned about privacy, you can choose to hide your photos by checking the request only option in the privacy settings. Click the upload button to save and continue.

If you need to edit your photos, use the tools provided to rotate, zoom, crop or adjust the brightness of your photo. Check the preview to see how your photo will be displayed. Once you're happy with your changes, click save photo to send it live.

This should only take a few minutes for your photo to appear on your profile.

Yes, for your convenience, we've included some photo editing tools each time you add photos to your profile. These tools will allow you to rotate, zoom, crop or adjust the brightness of your photo.

To use this feature, you'll just need to add a photo first. Simply click on the edit my photos button located underneath your main photo to get started and follow the prompts to add a photo.

You can add up to 16 photos to your profile.

Select your best photo like a close up smiley shot as your primary photo. This will be your default photo on your profile page and most likely the first thing your match will notice about you.

Any other photos you add will be displayed as small thumbnails directly under your main photo. Clicking on a photo thumbnail will enlarge it for a closer look.

Once you submit your photo, it usually takes less than an hour to appear on your profile.

If 24 hours has passed and your photo is still not appearing on your profile, try adding the photo again.

Sometimes, if we find a problem with your photo, we'll remove it from your profile and send you an email with reasons why it was removed. In this instance, you may need to edit your photo or submit a new one.

We reserve the right to remove or modify any photos if they breach any of our photo guidelines. Photos are regularly monitored by our Customer Care team.

Here's a quick list of common reasons why your photo may have been rejected:

• It featured kids or other people in the photo.
• It wasn't real you or featured a cartoon or graphic.
• It wasn't a recent photo of you.
• It was too naughty.
• It may have contained some type of contact information.
• It was too grainy or blurred.

Try adding a different photo or use the online photo editing tool to crop out other people.

To delete a photo, go to your profile and click on the edit my photos button located underneath your main photo.

Find the image you want to remove, and then click on the delete this photo link beside the photo.

If you are concerned about privacy, then you may wish to hide the photos from your profile instead.

Since there is no search function on MyType, your profile and photos can only ever be viewed by your matches. Only subscribing members can see photos. This makes it ideal for members who are concerned about privacy.

For added privacy, you may also hide the photos from your profile. Your matches can then request to see you photos giving you greater control.
